How to Take Care of Your Dry Cleaned Clothes

For people on the go, dry cleaning is a fast and effective way of ensuring that their garments are always looking at their best. Nevertheless, taking care of your clothes is not simply about having them properly laundered. There are several mistakes some people unknowingly make, which end up affecting the appearance of your clothes. To get the most out of your laundry services, there are a few things you should do during dry cleaning pick up or dry cleaning delivery.

Inform the dry cleaners of any stains

A common mistake some people make is simply dropping off their garments at the dry cleaners then hoping that all the stains will be removed. You may end up sorely disappointed when you pick up your clothes and find that the stain you brought them in with is still intact. The reason for this is that different types of stains will require specialised strategies to try to get them out. As such, if your dry cleaner does not know what caused the stain in the first place, then they will not be able to accurately decide on which type of strategy would be best suited for the stain removal process. If you are taking your clothes to be dry cleaned and are aware that they have acquired serious staining, it would be in your best interest to inform the dry cleaner beforehand.

Remove shoulder pads from garments

One thing some people take for granted when they take their clothes for dry cleaning is the shoulder pads on their garments. It should be noted that these shoulder pads are easy to detach. As such, they can get lost during the dry cleaning process, and this will greatly affect the appearance of your clothing. To be on the safe side, it would be best to remove the shoulder pads beforehand. This is especially prudent if they are attached using Velcro.

Take your dry cleaned garments out of the car

Some people tend to forget their dry cleaned garment in the car. However, not many people will consider this a mistake as they assume their dry cleaning will be sheltered from the elements while being in the vehicle. The truth of the matter is that your clothes become at risk of sun damage when they are left for prolonged periods in the back of your vehicle. The direct exposure to ultraviolet rays will inevitably lead to the premature fading of your garments. Therefore, it is always best to ensure you take the clothes of your vehicle once you pick them up from the dry cleaners. This is especially prudent if they are in a clear garment bag.
